Sugilite is a relatively rare pink to purple mineral. It was first discovered and described in 1944, when it was found in Japan. Later, it was also discovered in Mont Saint-Hilaire (Canada), the Wessels Mine (South Africa) Italy, Australia and India.
In recent years, Sugilite has become even more expensive and popular because of news that the Wessels mine was running out of Sugilite - which started a frenzy.
