Azurite and Malachite (Shilu, Guangdong Province, China) - 1225_AMC1
About this specimen:
46 x 37 x 74mm
147g (including the acrylic base)
———
This is a special specimen because it's from a very, very old pocket. First discovered in the 1980s, Shilu Azurite is characterised by "roses" of azurites, in single flaring radial clusters. Now, it is considered a Chinese "mineral classic".
This specimen is not very obviously rose-like, though there is some attempt at radial formation. The azurite crystals are large, deeply royal-blue, and sparkly. It also has beautiful acicular malachite needles on its side, a secondary crystallisation over the azurite.
