Native Copper (Rubtsovsk Mine, Altai Krai, Russia) - 1225_NVR1

About this specimen:
48 × 22 × 56mm
132g (including acrylic stand)

———

This specimen comprises a group of tetrahexahedral native copper crystals all clustered together. It's centre is extra sparkly and colourful, due to the differing weathering effects, which results in varying shades of copper throughout the specimen.

This piece is special, because it's not just any crystallised native copper - it comes from the now-closed Rubtsovskoye pyrite-polymetallic deposit. The area was mined from 2005 to 2015, when mining operations were stopped after the deposit was fully developed and exhausted of its ore.

In other words - there are no more pieces. Not even from illegal miners (not that we condone illegal mining :D).
