Northern Lights Pocket Fluorite, River Catcher Vein, Diana Maria Mine, County Durham, England (2023-NL10)

SGD 587.00
Only 1 available

60 x 47 x 37mm

We've been calling this piece "The Anomaly". The fluorite cubes are dark green, with no yellow core - very unlike the classic Northern Light pocket pieces. It is also coated in big, sugar quartz of white and hematite black. In short, this is a bedazzled fluorite!

-----

While extracting this pocket (situated on the River Catcher Vein) in September 2023, the night skies above northern England were lit by magnificent displays of the Aurora Borealis. In recognition of the perfect coincidental colors and timing, this pocket was named the Northern Lights.

Fluorite crystals occur as singles and twins with occasional crystallized galena and rarely as octahedral crystals. Color zoning characteristically shifts from oily apple green edges to citrus lemon bodies, with inner nebulous cores containing hints of burnt sienna.

Occasional faces are dusted with wispy patches of micro-sucrosic quartz, and in daylight the cubes naturally fluoresce deep blue/purple at their corners.

For every $15 spent, we will plant 1 tree to offset the carbon cost of mining, shipping and packaging crystals.

These are real and natural products, and so might have some flaws or imperfections. We have done our best to pick the best pieces available, but nature is often imperfectly perfect. Therefore, please only make the purchase if you are alright with this.
