The Marienschacht Mine in Wölsendorf, Bavaria, Germany, is famous for producing exceptional, collectible fluorite specimens, especially honey-yellow (Honeyspar) and purple varieties, often gemmy, well-formed cubes that exhibit purple fluorescence and are highly prized by collectors.

This classic German locality operated from the early 1900s until 1979, leaving behind a significant legacy of unique fluorite formations in various colors and formations. Long closed and backfilled, the vast majority of Fluorites were ground into dust to extract Fluorine for the war efforts in WW1 and WW2.

What few specimens survived are generally regarded as some of the hardest to get golden fluorites.
