Scintillating blues like the night sky, these specimens of gem azurite, chrysocolla and malachite from the famous Liufengshan Mine are stunning.
The Liufengshan Mine is renowned for its rich mineral deposits, particularly for producing high-quality azurite specimens. The mine primarily extracts copper, but occasionally, the miners will carefully preserve stunning specimens of azurite and malachite. For that reason, specimens like these are rare to come by.
The other reason for its rarity and popularity is because the Azurite from this mine are known for forming as well-defined crystals with deep, blue colours. The crystals can appear as rosettes, clusters, or studded botryoidals. Furthermore, specimens from this mine are noted from their clarity, luster and rich colours, making them some of the finest azurite examples available.
Lastly, the size of each crystal is larger than the usual druzies that are found in other locales. In fact, they are comparable with specimens from Milpillas, Morocco and Tsumeb.
