Fluorite (La Barre Mine, Puy-de-Dôme, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France) - 2404_LBMF3

SGD 198.00
Only 1 available

This is the largest piece we have, with tonnes of little cubes like tiny mountains on the front.

2.6 x 1.9 x 2.0cm

The La Barre Mine is an ancient mine which is well known for its nice fluorite specimens, especially blue ones (and sometimes, with yellow phantoms) on quartz. It is also famous for the inverse - yellow with blue bandings.

It was most active from 1918 to 1948, producing 80,000 tonnes of Fluorspar Ore. However, it was closed in 2000, and search for any pockets left behind have been prohibited. But once in awhile, a miner with an eye for beauty keeps an entire specimen and slowly makes its way into our hands.
