Kutnohorite Thumbnail (Wessels Mine, Northern Cape, South Africa)

SGD 118.00
Only 1 available

Kutnohorite is a rare calcium manganese carbonate mineral with magnesium and iron that is a member of the dolomite group. Its rarity can be partly contributed to how brittle it is, making it difficult to get whole and undestroyed specimens.

This specimen is bubblegum pink, with thicker needles.

This piece also comes from the famous Wessels mine, which used to be a source of some of the best Sugilite (another rare mineral, though less rare than Kutnohorite) until it was exhausted.

Note: This is a thumbnail specimen, which means it is very small, fitting into a small perky box.
