Fluorite (Hilton Mine, Scordale, Cumbria England, United Kingdom) - 1225_FU1
About this specimen:
65 x 32 x 55mm
85g (including acrylic base)
———
Here's a very yellow Hilton Mine fluorite - I emphasise the intensity of colour because they often come in colours closer to hay. This piece has both hay-yellow cubes on the matrix, and a few popping gold-yellow cubes, including a big, bright yellow twin in the centre.
And, it's UV fluorescent as well!
Whilst we do drop a lot of UKMV pieces, the Hilton Mine is not from the same area. Rather, it's from the North, in Yorkshire, and is a very old mine. It's also now closed and has been since 1963. The area is now a military firing range, which makes collecting, or going underground impossible, adding to its rarity value.
It's a classic, British fluorite and if you're a collector of UK fluorites, this is a definite must have for your collection.
