“Harlequin” or Scarlet Brandberg Quartz are Quartz with very bright red specks of hematite within the quartz and upon the surface of the quartz. The hematite specks are larger, well spaced out, in bold specks or specks with tails. Additionally, coming from the Brandberg mountain, two of the available pieces have amethyst within the quartz too.

About the Brandberg Mountain (because it is quite special)

So, these crystals are named for the soaring mass of granite known as “The Brandberg,” Namibia’s highest mountain. The name Brandberg is Afrikaans, Dutch and German for “Fire Mountain” and comes from the effect of the setting sun on the western slope which sometimes causes a vibrant orange glow. The Brandberg is considered sacred, a spiritual site of great significance to the San (Bushmen) tribes who sheltered there.

There are many types of red hematite quartz, and this formation with the larger specks is quite uncommon (though not as rare as Moroccan Strawberry quartz – google it, it is gorgeous).
