About This Specimen:

32.4g
38mm x 37mm x 28mm (approximately)

———

These beautiful, olive-honey "balls" of selenite are unique in that they are both fluorescent and phosphorescent. These qualities are unique to selenites coming out of Canada - these structures, in particular, are unique to Winnipeg, Canada.

In other words, they are unisource, and thus, very rare. Even my supplier had limited pieces despite coming from Canada!

I especially love the "blades" of gypsum that you can see growing on the Medium sized piece and the Large Size piece. They have some clarity and lovely crystal fibres which I find quite satisfying.

If you're wondering what the difference is between fluorescence and phosphorescence, let me explain:
1) Fluorescence is the emission of light absorbed from UV-radiation - in other words, it reacts to UV light.
2) Phosphorescence is when it holds on to that reaction for some measure of time even after the UV light is taken away.

For every $15 spent, we will plant 1 tree to offset the carbon cost of mining, shipping and packaging crystals. These are real and natural products, and so might have some flaws or imperfections. We have done our best to pick the best pieces available, but nature is often imperfectly perfect. Therefore, please only make the purchase if you are alright with this.
