Botryoidal Marcasite (Misgaran Mine, Adraskan District, Herat, Afghanistan)

SGD 44.00
Only 1 available

Marcasite a.k.a. white iron pyrite, is a type of iron sulfide with orthorhombic crystal structure.

This makes it different from pyrite, which is a type of iron sulfide with a cubic crystal structure.

Note: this is pure marcasite. I make this distinction because, very often, we find marcasite included in chalcedony.

The Misgaran Mine is an ancient mine which has been worked for the longest time. It is rich in tin, and has been dug down to the Early Cretaceous layer of sandstone, siltstone, shale and limestone.
